Teacher - Junior High Science

While I have been in education for many years, this is my fourth year at St. George.  I earned my undergraduate degree from Illinois State University.  I went to Olivet Nazarene University for my graduate degree.  I have also studied engineering and physics through St. Louis University and Aurora University.  I love to learn and love taking classes!  While at ISU, I majored in junior high/middle school.  I earned my masters in school improvement leadership from Olivet.  Almost half of my career has been spent working with gifted and talented students.  Aurora University helped me develop my background and certification in gifted education.

While junior high/middle school is my favorite age level to teach, I have worked with kindergarten through high school.  I have also taught the college gifted seminar and have trained teachers in how to work with gifted learners.

Last year we started using the updated science series called Elevate Science from Savvas. The series is the newer version of a previously used curriculum. Students will do interactivities, virtual labs, research, and assessments using the online format. They will be able to highlight vocabulary, use graphics, and read/listen to the textbook format.

One of my favorite sayings is, “If you find a job you love, you will never have to go to work again.”   That is how I feel about being a teacher.  I am excited and looking forward to an amazing year ahead!
